The Forbes Magpies have completed an undefeated run through the draw to win the annual Western League Tag Challenge played at Canowindra’s Tom Clyburn Oval on Sunday.
The Grand Final saw the Magpies face perennial Western Premiership powerhouse Bathurst St Pats for the crown, with Forbes running out the winners in a close encounter 8-4.
Meanwhile, St Pats’ Erin Naden was named the player of the tournament after a standout performance on the day.
Earlier, in the Semi Finals, Forbes cast aside Orange United 26-0, while St Pats eliminated home side Canowindra Tigers 14-0.
Overall, 15 teams took the field on a warm 32 degree day, with players in the Western Rams Women’s Country Championships side absent due to their clash with Riverina in Wagga Wagga on the same day.
The day went off without a hitch and everywhere you looked there were hot but smiling faces.
Feedback from clubs were all positive and their teams, support staff and supporters all had a great day and are all looking forward to next year.
