Last year’s grand finalists Canowindra should once again be one of the frontrunners in the Woodbridge Cup competition this year after again impressing in the pre-season.
The Tigers won the pre-season knockout for the second year with their 16-5 win over Orange United Warriors on March 15, and with the retention and acquisition of key players should be vying for premiership honours again this season.
The re-emergence of reinvigorated Condobolin Rams, after missing last season, will add more strength at the top of the table and will put more pressure on the top teams once the competition gains momentum.
Sleepers Orange United, in their third year in Woodbridge, look to have shaken off the shackles, beaten by only 11 points in last weekend’s knockout final.
With Condobolin’s return and with former Group 10 club Cowra Magpies fronting in their second year, the Woodbridge Cup will attain a higher status among the Western Districts’ competitions in 2025.
Meanwhile, in the first round losers’ bracket, the Eugowra Golden Eagles won the Plate final.
