Have you seen those trendy retro jerseys getting around bush footy circles in New South Wales?
Chances are, they were made by these guys.
Ganmain-based apparel company Cobrapparel is offering clubs the chance to win $2,000 worth of custom cotton retro jerseys in a design of their choice ahead of the 2026 season, all via a social media competition.
The company launched the ‘Cobrapparel Classics’ retro jersey range this year, with the Crookwell Green Devils the first club to have their 1994 premiership winning design replicated in a threequarter sleeve cotton jersey this year.
Cobrapparel founder Jacob Guthrie said that the competition was all about promoting their product in a way that gives back to one lucky local rugby league club somewhere in Australia.
“It’s a campaign on social media which is to try and raise a profile of these cotton jerseys that we have stumbled upon and realised just how popular they are, and how much of a trend they are in the community at the moment,” he said.
“Rugby League 90s fashion seems to be a really big thing.
“We just did some for a club we sponsor, the Crookwell Green Devils, and the response we saw from that with jerseys being sent all over Australia just made us open it up to other clubs.
“It’s really good, it’s bringing funds back into country footy and turning country footy clubs into brands which is great for the clubs and great for community.”
While one lucky club will win the competition and get to collaborate with Cobrapparel to claim their prize of the jerseys, the hope is that other clubs will look to create their own Cobrapparel Classics throwback jerseys for their supporters to wear while cheering from the sidelines.
“If they don’t end up winning the competition they can just send us a direct message, give us a call or flick us an email and we can get to work straight away and have stuff ready for 2026,” he said.
“We’re really excited to already be working with clubs like Grenfell, Rankins Springs on their centenary, Crookwell [and] Yandina up in Queensland.
“We’re really excited with this product because I don’t think anyone is doing it to the level we’re doing it.”
Details on how to enter the competition are in the Instagram post below.
