Eight clubs across the Capital Country will take to the field to begin their 2026 campaigns this weekend as the George Tooke Shield kicks off for another season.
Round one action this weekend will begin with three games on Saturday, headlined by the Snowy River Bears taking on the UC Stars in their first hit out under new coach and former USA Hawks representative Tui Samoa.
The other two Saturday games also shape as big games, with Googong welcoming last year’s runners-up Harden at Duncan Fields, and a strengthened North Canberra outfit hosting defending premiers Bungendore.
The final game of the weekend will take place on Sunday, with the Crookwell Green Devils beginning their second era under Brian Gray after his return from Goulburn with a local derby against the Boorowa Rovers at Memorial Oval.
Looking ahead to other highlights in the season draw, action under Friday night lights returns in round three when the Boorowa Rovers play host to the UC Stars at the Boorowa Showground on May 1, with the time for the match yet to be confirmed.
Meanwhile, the Grand Final rematch will also take place in round three, when the Harden Hawks welcome defending premiers Bungendore to McLean Oval after the sides faced off in a second straight decider to end last season.
The final competition round will kick off on August 15, with Boorowa hosting Bungendore, Snowy River Bears tackling Crookwell, North Canberra taking on Googong, and Harden facing UC Stars to round out the regular season.
Following that, a four week, five team finals series will begin on August 22, with the Grand Final set down for Saturday, September 12.
