Statewide Wrap: Seven-way tie for lead in incredible start to Group 7 season

Tallon Smith

The Milton-Ulladulla Bulldogs have joined six teams in a tie for equal first in Group 7 First Grade after a hard-fought 14-6 home victory over Albion Park-Oak Flats on Saturday.

After being held to nil in their last start against Stingrays, the Bulldogs gained their second victory of the year over the Eagles, following their round one win over Nowra-Bomaderry.

Jamberoo continued their winning ways with a 36-0 shutout of Nowra-Bomaderry at Kevin Walsh Oval.

After an opening round loss, the Superoos have sprung to life in rounds two and three, securing a shock victory over Gerringong prior to Easter, before flexing their might against the Jets on Saturday.

The Kiama Knights emerged victorious from a tight tussle with the Shellaharbour Sharks, picking up a 12-0 victory at their home of the picturesque Kiama Showground.

After a 26-0 round one win over Jamberoo and a 16-14 loss to Nowra-Bomaderry in their second match, the Knights held last season’s runners-up to nil in an incredible defensive display in the ‘Match of the Round’.

Finally, the Sharks’ cross-town rivals Stingrays were the other winners over the weekend, recording a dominant 48-14 victory over the Berry-Shoalhaven Heads Magpies.
